Red Sonja #1 Cover Art

This is my cover art for Red Sonja #1 published by Dynamite comics. I did the pencils, inks, and colors. I prefer images and covers that have narrative value. My concept on this piece was that Red Sonja has stolen the eyed jewel which resided in this castle, and she is making her escape. As she is making her escape, a something attacks her and the castle. It's casting a mystical spotlight on Sonja, and it's so terrifying that it is distracting the foe beneath Sonja so much that he is paying no mind to the imminent threat of Sonja's boot. The viewer is placed between the threat which is casting the spotlight and the battle ahead of them--between a rock and a hard place.
